Season Two

MONDAY MOCHA WITH ROBYN EXTON

Three more Mocha’s to go folks. I know I say this about all of the guests, but what I love most about the first Monday Mocha series is the diversity of guests. We’ve had equality in the sense that we’ve had the same about of females as we’ve had males. They all have an inspiring and individual story. Monday’s for me have become a day I look forward to than one that I dread. I hope it’s been the same for you as well.

This guest is someone I would say is the equivalent of the modern day cupid. I guess dating site and app creators are like that, right? Meet Robyn Exton – founder and CEO of lesbian/queer dating app – HER. The creation of the app was originally inspired when one of her best friends asked her for some advice on how to meet women. After working with a tech company, Robyn finally decided to bite the bullet and create HER, which is now operating in over 20 countries in the world.

“We look at the struggles and the unique patterns that women have and try and make an app that works best for women”

#19 THE WALL ST OF LIFE

So, it’s the last Wednesday episode of Season 2. You’ll still hear my dulcet tones on Monday Mocha for the next few weeks but our special time together on Wednesday will be back in July.

I love sharing my Wednesdays with you. It’s a day I look forward to most and I love that people from all over the world; from places that I’ve only ever dreamed of listen to The Ginni Show. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

This episode takes a little transactional turn in the sense that we look at ourselves and how we interpret love and how we use that to essentially “trade,” or interact with out acts of humanity. What’s really in our emotional bank accounts? Why do we always deposit and withdraw such emotions to “trade,” with?

I hope this episode serves you in learning a little more about yourself, what emotions we tend to turn to when we feel an uncomfortable situation and how we can filter out what’s good for us to what just is.

Wednesdays will be back in November my friends, but until then, enjoy the Monday Mocha episodes. Please be safe and happy 🙂

#18 MINDFUL SPEECH

Words are such powerful tools. We use them everyday. In speech. In text. In thought. In almost every human interaction. Yet sometimes we forget just how much we take words for granted and how impactful they can be on others and ultimately shape a belief they have.

This podcast is dedicated to everyone who’s ever felt a little different. Anyone who’s searched for that understanding and may not have received the kind of words they hoped for.

#16 APPROVED

As kids who enter the world and go through brand new experiences, the memories we form pave the way to our beliefs about ourselves. Generally speaking, a lot of these beliefs evolve around how much we want to be liked – how much we want that fellow human approval. After all, it’s apart of humanity to want to relate and connect with our own species. The issues that arise from this need for approval is that we compromise so much of our own inner voice and needs and fill our minds and energies with resentment.

Oprah calls it the “disease to please,” and when we place ourselves in a position to seek approval or behave in a way just so others will like us, over time resentment builds.

This episode goes through the patterns around approval and where these usually form – home and school; the things we do so that our parents and the cool kids at school like us.

#15 EXCUSE…..ME?

Are you liking The Ginni Show? It would mean the world to me if you gave it five stars. Click here to leave your review.

Now..onto this episode. Are you constantly told that you’re getting in the way of yourself? And then it’s hard to understand what that actually means?

What is it about you that is getting in the way of yourself? What are some of the thought patterns, beliefs and behaviours we subconsciously engage in or are programmed within us that stops us from living the happiest and healthiest life we could?

This podcast is a little more serious but I’m also on the lookout to bring as much JOY as I can so am always finding ways to do so.

#14 HAPPINESS IS ICE CREAM. OR IS IT?

Are you happy? What are some of the things about you that make you happy? And in your life that make you happy?

Sometimes happiness is a projection of what others predicate for us. These others can be anyone from our parents, grandparents, teachers, cousins to our school peers. We find ourselves trying to squeeze into a mould that simply isn’t made for us. This applies to almost everything about us. The way we think, the way we behave, what we do and don’t do. It’s interesting how much this projection is a loud tape recorder in our heads.

This episode, we delve into why sometimes what we feel makes us happiness, is the very thing that leads us to unhappiness.

#13 BREAK THE FUNK

How are you? No really, how are you? I think sometimes, that phrase is used quite flippantly as a way to start a conversation rather than make it the focus of the conversation.

If we were actually using the phrase, “How are you,” and paying extra attention to the response, then the need for a day where you ask people how they are and make it your focus wouldn’t be necessary.

If we’re aware of ourselves more and how we feel, we’re aware of others and how they feel. It becomes difficult to navigate through our emotions, our day to day thoughts, our pre existing though patterns if we lack that very thing; self awareness.

It’s the key to many openings – your strengths, your weaknesses, what you need to work on, what makes you happen, what you need. If you’re self aware, you are well on your way to authentic power.

In a lot of the podcasts I do, I encourage everyone to take time out of their day for themselves. To spend with themselves. I truly want everyone to get to know the essence of how they are, and that takes time and focus. This can be done through meditation, or if that’s not your flavour, sports, reading or just sitting in silence for 30 minutes. It’s perhaps the most important tool you will have.

This episode is a little different to others. I’ve taken a more “serious,” tone to it because I’m serious about you living the happiest life possible for you.

#12 WHAT’S YOUR FLAVOUR?

This episode is all about…..ICE CREAM! YAY!

Well…not quite. It is about ice cream and it’s glorious flavours however I use it as a comparative. One of my first teachers – Shakti Durga, explains spirituality in a way that compares to Ice Cream. She said, “Spirituality is a lot like ice cream. It comes in it’s different flavours and expressions, but at the end of the day, it’s all ice cream.”

We take a look at some of the flavours and what we can appreciate from them.

Now, let’s go and have some ice cream!

#11 VENTING OR B*&CHING?

There’s really nothing like a good vent. It’s the start of a process to a solution. But many of us start that process and just stay at the step of venting which can leads to loads of negativity and frustration – especially when others don’t agree with our point of view.

In the episode, we explore the themes of the fine line between venting and b*&ching and the ways we can express how we feel in a way that seeks a solution rather than approval.
