#23 YOUR BOLDEST CHEERLEADERS

This Episode is about resistance to the one thing that is only consistent in our lives – Change. My belief is that there are two types of humans – those who live in curiosity and those who take curiosity as a gateway to opportunity, evolution and experiences. Sometimes those who live in curiosity as just happy doing that. They’re happy living vicariously through others and it brings them joy that they can do that. And then there are those who make commentary, judgements and form unhealthy dialogue. Generally it’s because it’s coming from a place of regret or resentment that they weren’t able to live out their dreams for whatever reason.

The point of this episode is to encourage you. If you’re not doing something or living a life that makes you truly happy because you’re worried about what others will say – stop. It’s enough. You’ve lived your whole life this way and nothing is going to miraculously change. Unless you change the amount of validation and weight that you carry in other people’s beliefs about the way you life your life.

Surround yourself with your boldest cheerleaders. That unconditional support you get from your tribe. Fill your mind and your space with those voices, that energy – because at the end of the day, if you’re truly happy doing what you do and many moments of your life hold that joy, everything else, simply doesn’t matter.

Go be you. Go be happy. You don’t need mine or anyone else’s permission.

MONDAY MOCHA WITH TOMBOY TIRADE

This Monday Mocha Episode is a special tribute. Why I started this particular podcast on top of the usual Wednesday episodes of The Ginni Show is that I wanted to help you start your Monday’s with that extra spring in your step that may or may not have a helping hand from a caffeinated beverage of some sort.

This episode is a special tribute to Persis Shanker – one of the hosts of Tomboy Tirade – one of Asia’s biggest girl podcasts. I’m joined by Persis herself and her co hosts Joanna, Raven and Siti. Persis sadly passed away earlier this year and I wanted to hold off on this episode and release it at the right time. The first interview I did with Persis was when I was staying at a friend’s place in Brooklyn. Funnily enough, that place is now my home in New York so it’s only fitting that I release this podcast now. Here’s a special Monday Mocha tribute to Persis Shanker of Tomboy Tirade.

#22 935 KILOGRAMS OF HOLIDAY SPIRIT

It’s December! Can you believe we are finally at the last month of 2017? I say finally because around this time of year, we tend to reflect on everything we have achieved and everything we haven’t. Pair that reflection up with the holiday cheer, wrapping up things before the parties and festivities and some of us have to also cram in the shopping, it can feel like a lot of weighing in on you this time of year.

This episode has to do with looking for the spirit, the generosity and love beyond all the madness. I hope it brings the joy to your heart as it intends.

#21 THE BUTTERFLIES WON’T EAT YOU

The day I learnt that Butterflies didn’t have the ability to eat me was one of the most liberating days of my life. I was 12 and I watched a Cethosia butterfly fly away. Celebrate the wins, people. No matter how big of small they are.

I’ve heard many spiritual teachers say that in life, humans tend to look at things in two ways; out of love or out of fear. When we opt for the latter, we go down a spiral of anxiety and darkness and it’s generally a projection of things that don’t exist in the present. We spend all this time and energy worry about things that never really happen. That’s just how powerful and crippling fear is. It’s design to keep us safe and somewhat restricted. Fear does serve a purpose though. Fear teaches us that boundaries are needed to be put in place until we wish to explore what’s beyond.

I feared butterflies for most of my childhood, and this episode will tell you exactly why. This is one of those fears that when you are brave enough to face it, you can find that what’s beyond that fear is something pretty special, innocent and freeing. Whatever your fears may be, if they cripple you and block you from beauty, I hope this episode brings you joy and learning that there is so much freedom beyond fear!

MONDAY MOCHA WITH CHRISTOPHER PLOWMAN

It was so awesome to have The Ginni Show return last Wednesday. And this week, Monday Mocha is back! Monday Mocha is an opportunity I have to sit down and have a coffee with an awesome individual who is doing something inspiring in the world. I love starting my Monday’s with such inspirational chats and of course, an excuse to drink copious amounts of coffee! This week, I have a coffee with Christopher Plowman, the CEO of popular meditation app Insight Timer. He’s a fellow Aussie and he explains just how he came to acquire the meditation app, how meditation has helped him in life and of course, we find out if he takes his phone to the bathroom with him.

#20 ITS OK TO LIKE YOUR OWN MUSIC

Hello everyone! It’s been 8 months!

It’s so good to be back! There are quite a few changes that have happened and are happening – but we’ve got another 10 episodes in this entire season to catch up on all that 🙂

Changes teaches us some invaluable lessons – and they are almost always about ourselves. This episode is about what we are taught to think about ourselves and our life. It’s funny how intuition that so naturally develops for us as children gets drowned in doubt, second guesses and fear from the projection of others we grow up around. These projections aren’t always out of ill intent – the ones that impact us are usually what comes from love. However, if there is a inkling inside of you that knows that you’ve always been hearing a different kind of music than to what is being play to you and around you – it’s important to listen to that. Its important to also have your music heard too.

I love that Wednesdays are back. I love that I get to share this day with you again! So here’s the first cab off the rank for Season 3 – It’s Ok To Like Your Own Music.

MONDAY MOCHA WITH ELJAY AGUILLO

Where’s your safe place? Is it a physical place you can go to and know that you feel completely ok to be yourself? Or is a space you go to when you meditate or a feeling that takes you there. For me, the feeling and the comfort that comes when I am in New York makes it my place. It’s one of the reasons why I love New York City, and its from this love that lead me to meeting our next guest. Eljay Aguillo was in a long distance relationship with a lady from Chicago who sent him a Joss Stone album request he listen to a song called, “I fell in love with a boy.” After realising that it was her way of telling him that she had fallen in love with someone else, heartbroken, Eljay moved to New York City in hope of one day running into his ex girlfriend in the city she loved so dearly. Three years later, amidst the sadness of his break-up, Eljay finally healed enough to gain the courage to listen to the entire Joss Stone album. As a reward to himself, he went to a party with his friends, leaving his credit card at the bar to shout everyone drinks to celebrate this long awaited milestone. In a twist of fate, that night, Eljay’s credit card got mixed up with someone else’s at the party and this lead him to meet the inspiration behind his amazing photographic turned published book: Why I Love New York City – his wife Maria. Eljay has captured and heard nearly 700 stories of love. One of my favourite Monday Mocha podcasts so far.

“There’s always a romance to being or doing something for yourself that you’ve always wanted to do in your life. If you do that, you should look at it always as a positive. You did this for yourself and you did this because you love who and what you are.”

MONDAY MOCHA WITH ROBYN EXTON

Three more Mocha’s to go folks. I know I say this about all of the guests, but what I love most about the first Monday Mocha series is the diversity of guests. We’ve had equality in the sense that we’ve had the same about of females as we’ve had males. They all have an inspiring and individual story. Monday’s for me have become a day I look forward to than one that I dread. I hope it’s been the same for you as well.

This guest is someone I would say is the equivalent of the modern day cupid. I guess dating site and app creators are like that, right? Meet Robyn Exton – founder and CEO of lesbian/queer dating app – HER. The creation of the app was originally inspired when one of her best friends asked her for some advice on how to meet women. After working with a tech company, Robyn finally decided to bite the bullet and create HER, which is now operating in over 20 countries in the world.

“We look at the struggles and the unique patterns that women have and try and make an app that works best for women”

MONDAY MOCHA WITH CHRIS FREDERICK

This Monday Mocha is a story of quite a powerful manifestation. Meet Chris Frederick, a boy from Ohio, middle America. Growing up with the person who left the biggest heart print on him; his mother, he came out to her when he was 17, just a few months before they were set to head out on a trip to New York.

The special moment that was awaiting them both turned out to actually be a moment that would not only shape Chris Frederick’s history…..but the actual history of New York City Pride. Chris experienced his first pride, in New York, alongside his beloved mother. He was immersed in the colour, community and celebration of what it is to be you. Little did this boy from Ohio know that a decade later, he would be the Managing Director of New York City Pride.

I love this story and I hope it gives your Monday just what it needs.

“Pride is the single moment the community comes together and rallies behind this identity and cause for wanting to be accepted by the world.”

MONDAY MOCHA WITH MONIQUE BOWLEY

I know it feels like a long time between Mocha’s. Now that Wednesday’s aren’t returning until July, our catch up time is down to once a week. It sucks but given the fact that I ask you all to invest in yourselves and listen to your inner child, play time and balance is a part of that so I must practice what I preach. At least that means we get Monday’s together right?

Now, before you freak out when you listen to this podcast and say, “I’ve heard this voice before.” Other than my dulcet tones, my guest for this week, Australia’s Queen of Podcasts herself – Monique Bowley, frequents the airwaves, currently on the Mamamia Podcast Network. Her work is award winning and her witty, quick whips and natural flair for conversation is apparent. What I loved about this particular podcast is that I got to see a deeper side of Monique, even when she told me she “Mutes it when the plop happens.”  What I loved learning about her was that she is engineered from a place of gratitude; which comes doing what she does….and having a pair legs. Much wisdom, laughter and Monday Motivation in this one, my friends.

“I go to mass every Sunday. There is no where in life anymore that tells you not to be a dickhead, as an adult. The one hour on Sunday morning, tells me to be a better person.”
